What does love mean to you?
Hi dear friend,
How are you doing?
Happy Valentine's Day ❤️, albeit a little late. I trust you had a good Valentine’s Day and you didn’t do anything that you won’t be proud to tell us about 😉
In the light of love and Valentine's Day, I’d like to ask you some questions:
What does love mean to you?
Do you have a personal definition of love, or have you chosen to adopt that of society?
Do you know what love should look and feel like for you?
Does the love begin with yourself, or are you waiting on someone to come and fill your love gauge?
The love you are showing and receiving from others, is it patient?
Is it kind?
Is it envious? Are you free to spread your wings without having to worry?
Is it boastful?
Is it proud?
Does it dishonor you or others?
Is it self-seeking? Is it always about them and not you? Is your own love always about what you stand to gain?
Is it easily angered?
Does it keep track of wrongdoings? “That was how you did last week and the previous week too”
Does it delight in evil?
Does it even rejoice in truth at all or it rather rejoices with lies?
Is it always protective of you and is yours always protective of others?
Is it trustful or even trustworthy?
Is it a hopeful love?
Is it persevering?
Has it failed you, or has yours failed others? 1 Corinthians 1:4–8
At the end of the day, I hope that the kind of love you give out is a true definition of God’s love.
I hope that the kind of love you receive reflects the love of God for you.
I hope you are truly enjoying love and not just being in it because of people, society, and what you stand to gain.
I hope you love and are loved truly by God’s standard.
I know it sometimes becomes hard to love people especially those that choose to hurt you and so if you’re struggling to expess God’s love to people around you, I’d like you to say this short prayer
Dear God, help me to love as you love. Fill me with your Spirit so that I might be able to express God's love to everyone around me. Help me discern the true love of God that I may be able to receive only the God kind of love, in Jesus’ name.
See you soon
