Hello everyone,
Zoewriter is back ššš
Yes, itās been almost a month since there was a blog and I miss you all
There was a lot going on, plus I didnāt really have anything to write to you about as I got caught up with the āa lot.
But now weāre back š„š„
So today, I want to share something that the Holy Spirit brought to my knowledge recently.
Letās get right into it
I believe that thereās a thin line between expectation and entitlement.
A few weeks ago, it was my birthday, and I had a conversation with one of my friends about entitlement.
It started off with me sharing an experience from a previous birthday and how I was hoping the day would turn out beautifully based on my expectations of my friends and family. It turns out, it was me just being entitled and expecting a lot from them.
So, you know how you consciously or unconsciously get to that point where you expect things from people because you did it for them or for others? Yes, that is what happened. I felt like since I gifted my friends on their birthdays, they should do the same. Since I show them love in the way I know how, they should also reciprocate the energy.
Well, that didnāt happen.
And that doesnāt mean my friends are bad people. I just had to learn to reduce my expectations so that I donāt get disappointed if things donāt go in the direction I imagine.
Thank God for growth and the Holy Spirit helping me realize that I was being entitled.
āHe is my friend, he should give me the moneyā
āShe should be able to pay my school fees, sheās my auntyā
āI gave him something when he needed it, now that I need something too, he should help meā
Maybe you have said one of these statement before. Was it an expectation or was it you being entitled? Be true to yourself.
Have you gotten to that point where you do things for people because of what you can also get from them?
When the friend didnāt give you the money, how did you feel?
When your aunt didnāt pay the fee, did your behaviour towards her change?
Expectations or entitlement?
The lesser your expectations from people, the less disappointed you will be when they donāt show up for you.
The lesser your expectations from people, the more easier it is for you to even trust God.
You donāt have control over what people should and should not do for you but what you have control over is your faith and trust in God.
People are not working hard just to fend for your own needs, however, God can direct them or send you help that shows up for your need.
Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
From this day, choose to trust God and not man.
See you soon š¤š¤
