Life is fragile

James 4:13–14 NIV “Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

There are no guarantees. No order or set amount of time we and our loved ones will be there for each other. No promise that how we feel, and what we can do today, will be how we feel and what we can do tomorrow. No promise that the health and relative wealth we enjoy today will be with us in the morning.

Facing up to the fragility of life can be scary. It can also be empowering. It can help us hold onto a perspective that supports us living a life rich with impact. It can leave us with a conviction to make the most of our days.

How then do we make the most of this fragile life?

Live a Godly and purposeful life. Everywhere you go, everything you do, bear in mind that you represent Christ and life has a purpose

Be good to people around you. Tell them you love them. Show them exactly how much you love them. Cherish them. Make sure they know you value them. Not only through words but through your actions too.

Be consistently grateful to God and the people around you. Grateful to God for all the things He does and is doing for and in you. When people do things to and give you things, appreciate them in the best way you can.

Learn to let things go easily. The anger, hurt, pain, disappointment, regrets, comparison, etc. Let it all go. It’s important that you live life

Make time for the people and things you love and matter to us the most. We must choose to prioritize because of how fragile life is. In order to say yes to the things that truly matter to us, we sometimes have to say no to other things. This entails making sure that our family, our friends, and ourselves all have adequate time in our days. When I say quality time, I don’t mean five minutes here and there spent staring at a screen; rather, I mean time spent being totally present with those around us and our surroundings. A lengthy stroll, some meditation, or any other form of self-care can be part of taking the time to check in with oneself.

Despite the cruelty of the uncertainty of life, having the opportunity to live and love is a wonderful gift. And you should live and enjoy living 🤗🤗.
