I heard a sermon on Sunday that I feel like every believer should think about at some point in their life, and that’s what I will be talking about today.
The title of the sermon is “More than My Savior,” by one of the Pastors in my church, Rev. Kachi Asugha. I’ll be giving a summary of the sermon and also dropping the link so you can listen for yourself.
Summary
1. Have you given your life to Christ? If yes, Congratulations 🎉🎉.
If not, kindly say after me: Heavenly Father, I come to you today. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself, and that’s why I ask you to save me. I believe in my heart that Christ died for me, and I confess with my mouth. I ask that you come into my life today and be my Lord and personal Savior. Thank you, Father, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, I have prayed (Amen).
2. If you said that prayer, Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
3. For believers who had given their lives to Christ before reading this blog, did that prayer sound like something you also prayed when you gave your life to Christ, especially the be my LORD and personal Savior OUR? Did you really mean it when you said it?
4. For those who also just gave their lives to Christ now, did you really mean what you said, or did you just say the prayers because I asked you to?
5. What was the purpose of you giving your life to Christ at the time you did? Was it to impress someone? Was it because you were trying to avoid hell and eternal suffering? Or were you really convicted by the sermon that was preached on the day you gave your life to Christ?
6. Maybe you understand the meaning of Him being your Savior, as per: He saved you from sin, sickness, infirmity, curse, etc. But do you understand what it means when you ask Him to be your Lord?
7. For a second, I want to assume you know what it means for someone to be your Lord. So, has Christ truly been the Lord of your life so far?
8. As you would listen, obey, and submit to your parents and boss, are you doing the same with your Lord? As you would seek advice from your best friend and do what they advise, are you doing that with your Lord? Is He Lord over every aspect of your life and decisions, or have you given Him boundaries on where He can have a say and where He can’t?
9. Or have you even forgotten that part of Him being your LORD is that you only reach out to the Savior part of Him when you’re in trouble or a dilemma? Like Rev. Kachi said, I’m sorry to break it to you, but He is more than just your Savior; He is also your Lord.
