Have you ever fought God?

Have you ever had to fight God before?

Yes, you read that right — I meant ‘fight’

Hi guys,

It's been a minute, and if you’ve stayed here long enough, you know the drill….I breeze in and breeze out, and now it’s come with a bad habit; I don’t even apologize or explain why I’ve been away, and that’s very unfair to you guys. Why though? I figured the excuses were usually the same: life got busy, I missed the days of the week, and so on. So, why say same old, same old all the time? Well, today, I’m truly sorry and I hope you forgive my inadequacies, remembering I’m human just like you and God forgives us all 😂😂😂

Back to fighting God. Have you ever really had to fight Him? I mean, fighting His will. I don’t know if a lot of you pray the “God, let Your will be done in my life” prayer as I do, but over time, I’ve come to realize the real question is: Are you truly ready for God’s will in your life?

You know those times when you’re praying for a new job, improvement in your academics, a financial turnaround, a spouse, a promotion, whatever it may be, and none of those things are coming through? Sometimes, it even looks like the situation is getting worse and you can’t seem to understand what God is doing. You ask yourself, Why am I not getting the things I’m praying for? Maybe you even take it a step further: “God, if you do this for me, I’ll serve You all the days of my life!” And still, nothing seems to change.

I have a question for you: what do you do in this kind of situation? Do you keep praying, trust in the process, or start questioning God’s plan?

Isaiah 55:8–9 New International Version “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

There are so many ways His thoughts are higher than ours, and His will may not match ours. Are you willing to accept that? Will you be open to the idea of not fighting God by the time you hear His will for your life? And no, the struggle isn’t because we don’t love God or don’t want to obey Him. Most of the time, it’s because we want to understand, even over-understand, where this journey is leading us. We want to understand the process and the destination, which we often just don’t get during those tough times or while following His instructions.

So what then do we do?

  1. Stay committed to the instructions He’s giving you at that moment. Stay committed to Jesus.
  2. Ask God what He would have you learn in that season. Is it an opportunity to grow in different areas or an opportunity to get closer to God?
  3. Know that God is still working, even in that situation
  4. Trust God’s timing over yours. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord

Here’s something I know for sure: when God eventually shows up, your mind will be blown. It will be beyond your expectations, and you’ll look back and understand why things didn’t go your way. I remember when I got out of university and spent a whole year at home without a job. It hurt back then, but looking back now, I realize that if that version of me had gotten a job, I probably would’ve lost it because I wasn’t well-formed. I had an attitude problem to work through first. So, I say again: trust God’s timing.

Let’s pray: ‘Thank you, Father, for Your will and plans for our lives. Help us stay consistent with You, trust in Your timing, and stay open to Your will, even when we don’t understand. Amen

Trust in the wait and let God’s plan for you unfold.

Thanks for being here, and see you soon
