1 Thessalonians 5:22 ESV “Abstain from every form of evil.”
The word abstain means to deliberately withdraw from; to stay away from; to put distance between oneself and something else. So that verse of the scripture can be rephrased as stay away from every form of evil.
What is considered evil to you?
What is evil to the people around you?
What is considered evil in general?
What is that thing that can lure you to evil?
What is that thing that seems perfectly normal to others but you know it is evil for you as a believer?
As believers, we must walk like children of the light.
We must walk by the Spirit.
We can’t afford to live in sin and evilness.
We are to stay away from anything that looks evil that can cause other believers to stumble.
What then is considered evil?
Gauge what is evil by the word of God. Let the word of God decide for you what is good and evil.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
Be conscious of it and stay away from whatever is considered evil
Prayer: Dear God, help me test all things by your word. Help me to know and be conscious of that which is considered evil and help me to flee from it in Jesus’ name (Amen)
