Four days back, Zoe was a month old and I remember how hard it was for me to continue with this vision just few days after announcing it. I was scared of my inconsistency, doubting if I was sure I heard God, and wondering if I was ready for this task. Here we are, one month later, I still feel the same way but my willingness to obey God is what keeps fuelling me to go on.

Obedience is an act of hearing God’s instruction and acting on it. For everytime God gives us instructions, we should bear in mind that He knows our ability and capacity and wouldn’t give us more than we can handle. Sometimes, God isn’t so much concerned about our ability to do that task as much as He’s concerned about our willingness to obey Him (This is not to say that we shouldn’t put in our efforts in the task He has given to us 😉). No one can walk with God without obedience to His instructions per time. Obedience is key in our walk with God 😊.

I know you’ve heard a lot about obedience but you sometimes still wonder why you should obey God right? Here are some reasons to consider:

1. Jesus commanded obedience. ‘’If you love me, obey my commandments’’ John 14:15(NLT)

2. God rewards obedience. ‘’And through your descendants, all the nations of the earth will be blessed-because you have obeyed me’’ Genesis 22:17

3. You have access to whatever you ask from God. ‘’And we receive from Him whatever we ask because we obey Him and do the things that please Him’’ 1 John 3:22 (NLT)

4. Obedience is our way of showing that we love God. ‘’Love means doing what God has commanded us…’’ 2 John 1:6a (NLT)

5. Our obedience to God launches us into a deeper dimension in our walk with Him. It strengthens our walk with Him. James 1:22–25 talks about being hearers and doers of the word and how much better it is to obey God.

6. Our obedience demonstrates our faith and trust in God. In Hebrews 11, we see an account of different people who were regarded as men and women of faith based on their obedience to God.

7. Through obedience, we experience God’s blessings. ‘’If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. Isaiah 1:19 (ESV).

8. Our obedience benefits others. ‘’Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one person obeyed God, many will be made righteous’’ Romans 5:19 {NLT). An example is our last week story of Achan and how his entire generation was wiped off because of his disobedience. Also, our great Father Abraham, whom we still enjoy blessings of his obedience to God till date.

9. You become God’s friend. ‘’You are my friends if you do what I command’’ John 15:14

10. You become one of God’s treasured possessions. ’’Now therefore, if you indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all people…’’ Exodus 19:5 (ESV).

I really hope these reasons have awakened in you the desire to live a life of consistent obedience to God. Next week, I’d be sharing a personal story about obedience. I really hope you won’t miss it😀😀. See you next week and have a wonderful week ahead🤗🤗.
